Capt. James has dedicated himself to knowing where the fish are in order to provide his guest with the best possible experience. Your guided bay fishing experience typically begins at Clark's Restaurant in Port O'Connor, around 6:00 am. From there, you'll head out to fish the shallow waters of Espiritu Santo, San Antonio, & West Matagorda Bay. During a full day you'll stay out on the water until approximately 3:00 pm and depending on the fish or the guest, you will either be wade fishing or drifting the flats. Speckled trout, redfish, and flounder are abundant in these tidal waters, and it's not uncommon for all three to be strung on a single day's trip. There's nothing quite like a huge trout busting a topwater, or a red rushing your bait and stripping drag on a cool salty morning.
Capt. James supplies all necessary tackle which includes rods & reels and artificial baits (live bait is available at an extra cost), along with cleaning and packaging your catch. Expect to return to shore tan, tired, happy, with a cooler full of fish, and a few good stories.
Full Day Fishing:
2 people $600 plus bait
3 people $700 plus bait
4 people $850 plus bait
Half Day Fishing:
2 people $450 plus bait
3 people $600 plus bait
4 people $750 plus bait
Fly fishing included. As an up and coming style of fishing that has steadily gained popularity on the Texas Coast, fly fishing has found its niche in the clear shallows around Port O' Connor. Sight casting to redfish is a unique way to catch one of the best fighting fish in the bays. There is just a different excitement to the fishing experience when you can see the strike happen. Catching reds on fly tackle is bar-none one of the neatest experiences I have had during my time on the water. Stalking a tailing red in only inches of water is something you will never forget. Then, precisely placing a fly in front of him and watching the red attack.
